Sharks 14s go straight to Grand Final
Last weekend saw the major and minor semi-finals being played in soccer’s Premier Youth League. The winners of the major semi-finals go straight through to the grand finals on weekend of August 30 – 31. The losers of the majors play the winners of the minor semis next weekend to qualify for the grand finals.
In the major semi-final of the 14s the Sutherland Sharks were too strong for the Marconi Stallions winning 3 nil. Blacktown City had a tough match against West Sydney Berries in the minor semi. It was a nil all scoreline after extra time and Blacktown finally prevailed 5 – 4 on penalties. The Sutherland Sharks go straight to the Grand Final while Blacktown plays Marconi next weekend for the right to meet the Sharks in the competition decider.
In the under 13s Marconi shocked top team the Sutherland Sharks with a 2 nil win. In the minor semi Blacktown’s 13s were 1 all with Manly United after extra time and then lost 3 - 1 on penalties. Marconi is in the grand final while the Sharks now meet Manly to qualify.

Kossie’s Blunt Humour
The A-League kicked off last weekend and Sydney FC had a nil all draw with arch rivals Melbourne Victory. In the A-League program for the weekend there was a short story about the Sydney FC coach John Kosmina. It went as follows:
Envy is a word that doesn’t reside in the dictionary according to John Kosmina. He’s splashed some cash in the off-season, but when asked if he envied the money available to managers in other leagues around the world, his answer was as blunt and forth-coming as we’ve come o expect, and love about Kossie: “I envy Brad Pitt because he sleeps with Angelina Jolie. It’s unrealistic, so I don’t think about it”
