Sharks Teams in Basketball Finals at Sutherland Stadium
The Sutherland Sharks have two teams in the basketball finals to be played at Sutherland Basketball Stadium next weekend. The teams are the Waratah Australian Basketball League (WABL) Men’s team and the State League Young Women’s Division 1Team.
The women’s team has already qualified for the grand final and will play the winner of the preliminary final between the Illawarra Hawks and the Sydney Comets. The grand final will be played on Sunday 5th August at 11am.
The Sharks men’s WABL team qualified for the Semi-finals with a convincing victory over the Hills Hornets last weekend. After jumping out to a 44 to 22 lead in the first quarter the Sharks were never headed to run out winners 127 to 98.

The Sharks are to play their semi-final against the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles at Sutherland Stadium at 6pm on Saturday August 4. The other semi-final will be between the Central Coast Oxygen Crusaders and the Sydney Comets. The winners of each game will meet in the Grand Final at 4.30pm on Sunday August 5. The well performed Sharks under 13s continued their good form with a win over Bankstown City. As a result the Sharks are in second spot on the ladder behind Blacktown but only on goal difference as both teams have 61 points, well clear of third placed Marconi.
The Sharks 18s defeated Bankstown City and moved past them on the ladder. The win puts the Sharks only 1 point behind 5th placed Manly and 4 behind St George Saints in 4th place.
The under 16s lost 3-1 to Bankstown who moved past them on the ladder into 3rd spot. The Sharks are now in 4th spot but only one point ahead of Manly United.
The Sharks 14s and 15s are well out of contention for the play-offs.

Sharks U14 lost 1 nil
Sharks U15 lost 3 nil
Sharks U16 lost 3 - 1
