How to avoid ‘No Show’ appointments

As you all know, selling is an essential part of your business. Many businesses I deal with often mention that they suffer from unacceptably high levels of appointment no shows. 

Here are a couple of simple, yet effective tips about avoiding ‘no show’ appointments and the importance of confirming appointments. 

If you are making sales appointments and have a high rate of ‘no show’ then the chances are you haven’t created enough urgency and scarcity in the mind of your potential client. 

So, how do you create urgency? You need to get them excited about what you do and maybe create a bit of scarcity too.

You could say after you have booked a time,

“By the way, that was one of the few appointments that I had left for the next three weeks so make sure you are there!”

Remember to do it with a smile. Don’t become indispensable to people. 

 “If you value your time then so will they.”

The other really important thing you must do before every appointment is to confirm it with a simple phone call.  Instead of just calling and confirming, you could try ringing with a little tip of the day about their business or industry that is totally unrelated to what you are selling.  This creates real credibility and rapport.  And, by going and finding something out about their industry you are also educating yourself!
