Seeing Stars for the month of August, 2010

NEW MOON at 17 LEO 25 on 10 August at 1:08 pm AEST

LEO
The Sun is generally at his confident best in Leo but the opposition to the nebulous Neptune for the most of the month tends to bring in elements of doubt and uncertainty. Although you may not have the physical stamina during this period that you are accustomed to the New Moon (see New Moon report) in your sign on the 10th may still fill you with creative potential and enthusiasm.

VIRGO
There can be a positive exchange of ideas particularly with those of similar ideas and thoughts. Around the 12th Moon links up with Mercury so there may be some productive outcomes by associating or interaction with women. Your mind is very active and you may find it hard to turn off. The 25th has a Full Moon in your opposite sign of Pisces so a relationship issue may come up.

LIBRA
Saturn the taskmaster joins Mars and Venus in your sign till nearly mid month. Although these are not usually comfortable bedfellows Saturn is exalted in Libra indicating that although a sense of duty may be the impetus for any get-together, a pleasurable outcome is the result. Venus and Mars continue to be joined at the hip all month, which may result in an attraction to a member of the opposite sex or ability in expressing your feelings.

SCORPIO
Old and new rulers square off at the start of the week and you may find issues around control need consideration. When Venus faces the dwarf planet in the second week there is a window of opportunity in facing and dealing with any inhibitions, whether this be sexual or emotional. Stresses and strains may surface in a relationship or indeed attraction for a bad boy/girl relationship.

SAGITTARIUS
With Jupiter, planet of moral and religious aspirations continuing its retrograde motion in Aries all month, there is a need to honestly assess and bring into balance our sense of obligation, values and how we go about achieving our aims. Jupiter is also known for its excesses so we may need to be mindful of not blowing things out of proportion or over-valuing someone or something.

CAPRICORN
Saturn beginning its 2 and a half year stay in Libra, the sign of negotiation and fair play moves into your solar 10th house asking you to examine your accomplishments and what you find fulfilling. Saturn is comfortable in both this sign and house position so don’t waste this chance to reassess or set goals in place that helps you grow and mature as a person accepting that it requires hard work and an application of effort.

AQUARIUS
Venus in Libra is generally an indication of harmonious relationships but when the goddess fences with your ruling planet Uranus chaos reigns as interactions are undermined and become unpredictable. Teaming up with Mars around the 20th tension may be eased particularly as you become willing to compromise and to handle tension in a less forthright manner.

PISCES
Challenging aspects this month may see you disappointed in your expectations, which may have been unrealistic to start with. The Full Moon (read Full Moon report) in your sign in the early hours of the 25th provides a wonderful release point as it can provide the motivation to let go of those prospects that belong to the imaginative rather than the reasonable.

ARIES
When Venus and Mars collide in the relationship sign of Libra as they do this month you can expect sparks to fly. It is a great aspect for new associations or bringing in a bit of romance to an existing relationship. Don’t get too carried away though as Neptune may have you under a spell of illusion so that what looked promising was in fact castles in the sand.

TAURUS
Most of us know that the way to a Taurean’s heart is through their stomach but don’t wait this month to be asked out but rather set your own seductive scene. Wining and dining under the filtered and shadowy influence of candlelight, perfumed essence and romantic music all send out the message of a sensitive and intuitive person who has good intentions and is open to pleasure.

GEMINI
One of the main things for you to note this month is the retrograde movement of Mercury on the 21st who does not turn direct till the 13th September. Paperwork and communication that can’t wait till after mid-September should be finalised as attention to detail is not keen and mistakes may not be picked up. The three weeks of this retrograde period is a great time though for study, revision or proof reading. Plan ahead.

CANCER
Saturn moves into your solar fourth house indicating a 2 and a half year period is beginning whereby the focus is on your personal and domestic life. This house acts as the foundation of your horoscope and any work accomplished during this time underpins and provides the groundwork for all that is to come. This is a time of new beginnings and issues should not be ‘put up with’ but dealt with so as a movement forward is achieved.

Leo is the fifth sign of the zodiac and Jung tells us that the number five is the number of the human hand which, with its five fingers, is our creative instrument, so is a dramatic and dynamic sign. Gone are the subtleties of Cancer where we witnessed the power potential and mystery of the feminine, in Leo we arrive at the solar or masculine principle.

In Iran, the Lion Initiation was a major part of the Mithrus cult. Frescoes show Mithrus, or the initiate, riding the lion bareback. This is a triumph of skill and self-mastery, of willpower and courage. A New Moon in the sign of Leo the Lion is a time when we can reach into our hearts and overcome our fears with an inner strength that helps us become masters of our own fate. It is where we become willing to take risks and also become willing to accept responsibility for our mistakes.

This New Moon also brings into play the polarities of Libra, the relationship sign and Aries, sign of the individual or pioneer. We have in Libra, Venus who loves peace and harmony, Mars the warmonger and Saturn of rules and regulations. These are not comfortable bedfellows. On the opposing side we have the continuing conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus in Aries or belief and change both of who are now in retrograde motion. These two planets remain within 10 degrees of each other for almost a year separating in March 2011.

Taking the New Moon and Leo symbolism this can herald a time of new beginnings if we have the courage to face our shadow of repressed emotions and desires and fearlessly face the adventure of life. To do this we may have to explore and adjust to new approaches in self and in relationships by recognising the need for change.

Pluto holds the reigns of these opposing signs so situations not unlike the phoenix that rises triumphant from the ashes or otherwise be allowed to die a natural death. Either way a necessary transformation is afoot if you have the bravery and daring to implement and face it.

FULL MOON at 1 PISCES 26 on 25 March at 3:04 am AEST

Sacrifice or Service. Ideal versus Reality. Intuitive or Analytical. Life can be full of choices, where either/or decisions are needed. Each month at the Full Moon light overrides the dark allowing us to see into the deepest recess of our lives illuminating those issues we need to notice and perhaps reassess. What was faced or instigated two weeks ago under the Leo New Moon? What now needs to be readdressed in order to attain those goals?

Here we need to balance and keep in mind the vision of the future whilst not getting lost or defeated by the detail. Under this sign it is very easy to become confused or disillusioned, surrendering aspirations by falling back into escapist tendencies by avoiding what needs to be done. Accomplishment comes through overcoming self-doubt by creating and maintaining order from the chaos. Make sure your vision is realistic and obtainable and then develop an organised and practical approach that allows you to achieve your goal. Most of us have suffered self-doubt from time to time - it is only when this overrides sound common sense that problems arise.

With the dwarf planet Pluto still fighting for the reigns of power by ensuring a visit to the underworld realms of shadow and fear, a perspective is needed. A lifeline is also thrown at this Full Moon gifting us with the ability to focus, single minded, on selected objectives.

With the lovers of the zodiac, Venus and Mars banding together in the harmony loving sign of Libra this is also a great time to work as a team, to pull together as a couple or to seek out those, if not of like mind, are able to assist by providing support and encouragement.

Not a time to go it alone.

COSMOS

Changes in planetary sign and movement this month include:

SUN: The ingress of the Sun into Virgo on the 23rd heralds a time in our zodiacal journey when we need to sift out those plans that may be a little far fetched and/or unrealistic and focus more on what is achievable.

MERCURY:  Still in Virgo turns retrograde on the 21st and remains that way for three weeks. It is wise to finalise any documents or paperwork before this time, as problems, delays or hold-ups tend to occur during this retrograde phase.

VENUS: Moves into her home sign of Libra on the 7th where we could normally expect good manners, charm and gracious social skills to apply but during the first two weeks we find Uranus ruffling her feathers.

URANUS: Reaches back into Pisces for the final retrograde motion on the 14th
before returning on Aries on March 11. This gives us a final opportunity to re-evalue any future plans or ideas before moving into the cardinal fire sign.
