Seeing Stars
by Patricia Shepherd

For the week beginning 29 June

The Sun in Sagittarius

CANCER

The Sun’s visit to your sign is an annual event where you are able to recharge your batteries and top up on your fuel levels. Become aware of what you want to accomplish and put it in motion.

LEO

The intensity of the last week or so starts to ease up as those who have been opposing you begin to back off. That is, of course, if you have stopped trying to throw your weight around and have listened to reason.

VIRGO

Things may not run according to schedule this week and you may find this a nerve wracking experience. The flexibility of going with the flow can be stimulating and work in your favour.

LIBRA

Venus and Mars are still joined at the hip making for a slow and sensuous waltz. You enjoy the company of others but don’t read more into it as it could be a case of wishful thinking.

SCORPIO

Priorities are coming under scrutiny but unfortunately you are being led off the track by the desire for a good time. This is fine but don’t become so wrapped in this that you forget to examine yourself.

SAGITTARIUS

Personal and working relationships are looking pretty good and the rapport you generate have others hovering in your vicinity. Self control is at a low ebb so keep a lock on the fridge door.

CAPRICORN

You have the discipline and motivation to accomplish a lot this week so anything you have been putting off that requires sustained effort or attention to detail should be put on your agenda.

AQUARIUS

Things can become tangled very quickly this week as your concentration wanders. If this starts to happen take a break and then come back to it otherwise you may get into a bit of a mess.

PISCES

Head in the clouds, feet off the ground, sound familiar? With Venus, Neptune and Jupiter providing an opportunity for creative activity let your imagination run wild, bit difficult to harvest just yet though.

ARIES

Make a decision and stick to it - in this way you are able to accomplish the task, but if you don’t you may lose the urge and the impetus. Then you will be left wondering if it could have eventuated.

TAURUS

Always one to like your food buy healthy options so as not to be wracked by guilt if you do over-indulge this week. You can’t reach for a Tim Tam if all that is available is a bowl of fruit.

GEMINI

Future plans fill you with confidence and as long as the easiest option or way out is not taken start preparing and organising all necessary and relevant information that will help smooth the way.

THE SUN IN SAGITTARIUS

In Sagittarius, man seeks to put into working order what he experienced with great depths of feelings in Scorpio where the ideal was to merge with others, becoming more than oneself, identifying with the whole.

Ancient symbolism had Sagittarius represented by the Centaur, the mythological half man half horse, describing the ability to harness the power of the horse and put it to use. There is a third attribute, that of the bow and arrow referring to direction and purpose shooting upwards at a 45 degree angle gaining maximum mobilisation of energy. He may shoot at the stars but his feet remain firmly planted on the ground hence the keenness in looking after the body.

We find in Sagittarius, at its highest level, the servant of the community who responds to its needs by establishing workable order in the midst of the complexity of social and natural phenomena. The philosopher and metaphysician recognises all sorts of hidden connections and correlations between events whilst organised religion also comes under the banner of Sagittarius being a communal enterprise, powered by man’s yearning to feel collectively united.

Gemini, the polar opposite of Sagittarius we see language in its incipient stage related to the needs of the personality and absorbed from the environment. Words that are rooted in images of the living and in personal experience are built in order to grow whereas in Sagittarius there is a search for universal meanings conditioned by social experience. Gemini is our early and secondary education whereas Sagittarius is at tertiary level.

Negatively, we see the willingness to sacrifice anything personal for the good of the community which leads to the fanatic and the puritan with personal asceticism, whether deliberate or enforced leading to cruelty.
